(Ch Sir Eric von Sieben X Ch Stolz Nebel von Sieben)
Chance was a "once in a lifetime" dog. He finished his championship at 13 months going BOW and BOB over Top Ten Specials at the Houston Kennel Club, topping off the day by going Group 3. That started his specials career which placed him on the Top Ten list for both 1979 and 1980, handled mostly by his novice breeder/owner. As a young dog, he would bring me birds he had caught, releasing them unharmed when asked. As the bird flew away, he would give me a look that spoke volumes. Unfortunately, he was never given the chance to prove his hunting instincts. Bred only 7 times, he was the third of the Eric sons to be BROM. Those who knew him remember "Mr PR", his joie d'vivre and all the new friends he won for the Weimaraner.
CH ERBENHOF TOUCH OF CLASS BROM
(Ch Sir Eric von Sieben BROM x Ch Stolz Nebel von Sieben)
Like her litter brother, T. C. was another of those "once in a lifetime" dogs. From puppyhood, she was the epitome of the perfect little lady, always sweet and charming. In the ring, she entranced both judges and exhibitors. She was pointed from the puppy class and continued her winning ways to become the first amateur-handled Best in Show Weimaraner bitch and only the third Weimaraner bitch ever to be BIS (at barely 2 years old). On the Top Ten in 1978, she continuously competed against five of the Top Ten dogs in the country during her specials career. T. C. was the first Eric daughter to become BROM, but her most important role was that of loved and loving family member.
CH ERBENHOF VAGUELY NOBLE JH,NRD,V
(Ch Erbenhof Bold Venture BROM X
Ch. Eb's Royal Miss Gertie)
Rick and his brother, CH Erbenhof Vaguely Royal, were the only survivors of their litter and were hand raised. As puppies they often accompanied me to work, sometimes stuffed in the top of overalls. Both acquired their championships easily. Rick was a multi-talented dog and a best friend. After finishing his championship, Rick went into the then new field of Hunt Tests, becoming the first champion Weimaraner in Texas to acquire his Junior Hunter title. And that was during the days when field trialers were judging and Junior Hunters accomplished what Senior Hunters do today. Rick had a great nose and a very soft mouth. Delivering a live bird to hand and riding "shotgun" in the car were two of his greatest joys.
S'nS JESSIE JAMES
(Mile Hi Bandit von Gip x SandS's
Peppy Pizzazz)
Jessie was my first field dog and the foundation dam of the field dogs of Erbenhof. She was the result of a "scientific miracle" breeding from a sire who was 12 years old and for all practical purposes, sterile. However, with a little help from reproductive specialists, five puppies were born. Jess had awesome range and ground speed combined with rarely seen intensity and great style on point. Although many GSP judges said, "Get her broke and she'll win GSP trials," Jessie thought pen-raised quail and blank pistols silly. Real hunting made her a happy working dog. She was a great companion, quiet around the house and extremely sweet. She loved riding in the car, spending many hours and miles riding in the front seat. Her only litter produced 7 pups, all of which are had great range, speed and extreme birdiness. Two of the dogs have field points and four have placements in all-breed competition.
ERBENHOF JACK FLASH
(Lucky Deaugh x S'nS Jessie James)
From the first field litter I bred, Jack was an exceptional dog. Starting with a 3 point puppy win, he placed in all breed juvenile stakes. He had speed, range, style and great heart. Although he was a wonderful companion and house dog, he loved being the "dog boy" -- riding in a dog box in the back of a truck on the way to a trial or just hunting.
ERBENHOF JOHN WAYNE
(FC Grau Geist's Gator x Erbenhof Amazing Grace)
Duke was the only male in his litter of eight. From the first, he was a very lovable dog who loved to lay in my lap and watch TV. He kept his sweet nature all his life, but he was also an intensely driven bird dog who was known to go through any obstacle to get his bird. And did he ever love to run!
